The Purpose of Prayer

This past Wednesday we started a series on prayer in our teen class. Prayer is something that seems so simple, yet it is so important for us to practice it. How many times have you said to someone “I’ll be praying for you”? We say it all the time it is almost second nature, but how many times do we follow through with it. That is why it is so important for us to have a purpose with our prayer. Sure, there are times when it is good to just talk to God about whatever is on our heart. We need to bring Him our concerns, but it is equally important to have thought and purpose behind our prayers. One of the ways we can accomplish this is to have a prayer journal. Just simply writing down the things we have prayed for or the things we need to pray for can help focus our prayers to God. I have challenged our teens to begin a prayer journal where they document what they pray for each day. This will also help them track their prayer life. I encourage you to join us in this effort to improve our prayer life. I hope that we can all be in prayer daily and that through our daily prayer we can be strengthened and encouraged! As always, you are loved!
Eric
