Noah & The Ark

Today our Christian Soldiers group started studying Noah in there Sunday morning class.
We will spend four weeks on Noah. There is so much packed into this story. It is a story that we
are all familiar with. We learned it early in Sunday school and VBS but sometimes as we grow
older, we forget the great lessons of the “Bible class” stories. The story of Noah is filled with
lessons that are practical for us today. The Bible tells us in Hebrews the eleventh chapter that
Noah had great faith and through that faith he built the Ark when called by God, but how often
do we stop to think about what that really means. Noah lived in ancient Mesopotamia, which is
modern day Iraq. This area of the world at the time was mostly desert. There was no major water
source, certainly not one big enough for the massive Ark he was building. Noah had never seen
rain. Until the flood the Bible tells us that it had never rained. There was a mist or dew that
replenished the Earth but rain like we know of had never been seen. Yet despite not knowing
how or why he was building the Ark, Noah did exactly what God asked. For one hundred and
twenty years, Noah labored and preached repentance despite the ridicule of the people around
him. In our life, God will often call us down uncertain paths. We will not understand why He has
called us or how we are going to accomplish the task but like Noah we have to just start building.
We have to have the faith to trust in God despite the circumstances. I pray that we will work to
do that every day! As always remember you are loved!!
Eric
