Making the Right Choice

Every day of our lives we are faced with choices to make. We choose when to get out of bed,
what to eat for breakfast, and what we are going to wear that day. Life is full of choices but
sometimes we make poor choices. In Genesis chapter 13, Abram and Lot are facing a dilemma.
There is not enough room for all of their livestock, so they choose to separate. Abram gives Lot
the first choice of where to go. Lot can choose anywhere around them to move to and Abram will
go in the opposite direction. When Lot looks around, he sees that the land over by Sodom is very
good. So, he decides to move in that direction going as far as pitching his tent towards Sodom.
We know from the Bible that Sodom was an extremely wicked and evil city. Because Lot chose
to be so close to Sodom, he was ultimately influenced by the people and had to be rescued by
Abram on several occasions. Lot made a bad choice. We must always remember that just because
“the grass is greener over there” doesn’t mean that is the best choice. We must choose every day
to do what is right in the eyes of God. I pray that we will always look to God for guidance in our
choices! Always remember that you are loved!
