Many times, in life we go through situations that we don’t understand. We face trials that at the time we feel will break us. Last July I began such a trial. Most of you know that last July 22 my dad went to be with the Lord. Today, is the anniversary of the day we brought him home from the hospital. It was the beginning of a very tough and trying year. I still do not understand why this happened but as time has gone on, I have come to realize that God is in control. Job had a similar situation. He lost everything, his children, his wealth and even his health. He was given some bad advice too. His wife told him to just “curse God and die”, but Job never gave up. However, even though he never gave up, he did doubt and began to question God. We all have questioned God at some point in our life. I have in the past year. Notice what God’s answer to Job was. In Job 38:2-4 God says “Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you and you shall answer Me. Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.” God tells Job that He is in control and that even if Job does not understand why, God does and that is all we need to know. That has brought me comfort this past year and I hope that it brings you comfort as well if you are struggling with something. I can never thank everyone enough for their love and support. You are so loved!

Eric
