Thankful for our Church Family

With Thanksgiving this past week, many of us are thinking about the people who bless our lives—family, friends, mentors, and those who’ve walked with us through highs and lows. But one of the greatest blessings we sometimes overlook is our church family.

In Philippians 1:3–5, Paul writes, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you… because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” Paul loved the church in Philippi, not just because they supported him, but because they were united with him in purpose, in faith, and in love. That’s what makes the church family so special: we’re more than people who sit in the same building; we’re people walking the same path.

I’m thankful for our church family here at Summerdale. For the way you show up, serve faithfully, love deeply, and pour into our kids and teens. For the way you pray for each other, check in on each other, and bear one another’s burdens. And for the way you chase after God together.

Our children need to see this kind of family in action. They need to know that church isn’t just a place we go, it’s a people we belong to. It’s a spiritual home filled with grace, truth, encouragement, and accountability. And when we make that visible to them, we help root their faith in something lasting.

So as you count your blessings this week, I want to encourage you to take time to thank God for your church family. And maybe even go one step further, reach out to someone and let them know how much they mean to you.

Because when God gave us the church, He gave us each other. And that’s something to be thankful for.

Always remember—you are loved.

Eric
