Folks, thank you all for inquiring about the font-size: medium;">churches of Christ and our brothers and sisters who experienced the most terrifying and devastating event in their lives because of a 7.0 earthquake in Haiti. This was a major quake as 7.0 is considered catastrophic.
There are at least 3 million people in the capital (Port-au-Prince) and as I can see on the news, large portions of the city are pretty much devastated. But here is what I have seen on the map. The epicenter was about 12-15 miles to the south and west of Haiti, just around the town of Leogane we have a lot of churches in that area, probably more than 40, most of them are located in the mountains. No reports have reached us from the epicenter as yet.
We were rattled pretty good here in the Dominican Republic but there are no reports of injuries or damages at this time. This is the third time in 5 years we have been rattled here in Puerto Plata. It is not a very pleasant feeling. The worst we had was 5.3 and I cannot even begin to imagine what 7.0 must be like. You will see the pictures on the news.
So many have written and asked "what can we do?"
Here is the situation right now. There is no power in the capital. Most major buildings have been destroyed and it will be difficult to send funds to a financial institution right now. I think the best thing to do is to send funds to the WEST BROWARD CHURCH OF CHRIST, 12550 WEST BROWARD BLVD., PLANTATION, FL 333 25. Phone: 954-475-7172.
You may call GARY NIX, deacon in charge of missions. Remember that West Broward is my sponsoring church. Gary's number is: 954-557-2289.
I know how to get funds IN PERSON to Haiti. I can take funds to Puerto Plata and drive in my own truck all the way to Haiti. I will have members of the TIMOTHY TEAMS meet me and receive the funds and instructions who to disburse the funds (buy food, blankets, medicines, etc). Our TIMOTHY TEAMS have been well trained to assist the needy. They were tested during 2 major hurricanes just one year ago as they made their way into areas not even the Red Cross was able to reach. They did a fantastic job!
I know you are all greatly concerned about the Haitian people and especially those of the HOUSEHOLD OF GOD (as am I, of course as I have so many dear friends there), and I appreciate your concern and your promises to pray for the good folks in Haiti and assist them any way possible to alleviate further pain.
God bless,
JOE WORNDLE
(Missionary to Dominican Republic)

Our Congregation has the benefit of a well established Missionary-Joe Worndle-working in Haiti with 60 preachers all over Haiti. The funds contributed will be deposited directly to the Joe Worndle Mission account in Haiti and dispersed to the local congregations by TIMOTHY TEAMS in place in the area. The TIMOTHY TEAMS are well trained to assist the needy and did an excellent job during the two hurricanes in 2008 in Haiti reaching those even the Red Cross did not.
